ASD Simplified Technical English

ASD Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE100), formerly known as AECMA Simplified English, is an international specification for writing aerospace and defense documentation. The use of this specification is mandatory for many commercial and military projects worldwide. S1000D and ATA iSpec 2200 require the use of ASD Simplified Technical English for any documentation in English.

Aerospace

BEFORE - Original text:

Three phase power is provided by three separate generators. They are the main source of power for the main ac buses and the whole electrical power system. Two generators are driven by the engines and one generator is driven by the auxiliary power unit (APU).

AFTER - Text rewritten in ASD Simplified Technical English:

Three generators supply 3-phase electrical power. These generators are the primary source of power for the primary AC buses and the electrical power system. The engines operate two of the generators. The auxiliary power unit (APU) operates one generator.

Defense

BEFORE - Original text:

Remove
The beige pump is located at rear cabin crew compartment.
Remove floor board two mounting screws.
Loosen clips and disconnect discharge hose.
Remove two mounting screws from mounting plate.
Remove bilge pump.

Install
Install two mounting screws and torque to 50Nm.
Reconnect discharge hose.
Perform functional test.
Install floor board and tighten two mounting bolts.
